Theanine in tea lowers beta waves and increases alpha. Is this bad?
Theanine chemically influences beta wave production. Beta waves are associated with logic and critical reasoning
Here is one study on the topic.

Have you seen any Chemistry on this experiment yet? It would be rather interesting to see how the amino acid/alpha freq. interface works on paper....

No, I would guess it is through theanine increasing GABA. This makes me wonder if I should avoid GABA producing foods. I'm not sure I want lowered beta waves.
I really don't know though, I know little about brainwaves

This is a very interesting question for me,
The brain wave,
is there a source and if so is that source of the wave, the brain it's self, and if not is the wave being imported or exported from the or to the brain ?

I could be speaking out of turn but I'm guessing none of us here know the answers to your questions hence the lack of response. Sorry
