1. Need to know what does the brain's neurons depend on, blood which supplies the oxygen and nutrients right and?
2. If that, is so, then isn't it possible for a good amount of time after death to stick a blood supply line in and keep all the needed things going to them?
The bulk the brain needs to survive indeed comes in through the circulatory system through the blood-brain barrier. If you can simulate circulation well enough AND you avoid allowing the body's decay from interfering with function, it might "keep going".
